I couldn’t believe my amazing luck that I was in the middle of a photo shoot at the Wharf in DC when the sky erupted into one of the most beautiful sunsets in recent memory. Here are some of the photos I took that evening.
Photo tip:
If a sunset is beautiful enough already, you don’t have to do much to it in Lightroom or Photoshop. You aren’t going to believe this, but I added zero saturation or vibrance to most of these photos! I actually reduced the saturation in a couple of them, because the colors were so intense that they looked fake. Photoshop/Lightroom can come in handy with sunset reflections on water, though. The sunset in the sky is always brighter than its reflection in water, so it helps to brighten the water and/or darken the sky to balance reflections. Don’t balance them too much, though, because subconsciously we are accustomed to seeing that difference.
