It’s always an honor to be asked to photograph a family that is usually separated by miles. This family recently came together from Korea, Missouri, and Virginia to celebrate Thanksgiving, and I loved being able to document their time together. We went to Lake Fairfax Park in Reston for some water views and some of the last of the fall colors.
Photo tip:
When photographing families, observe how a child interacts with each of his or her parents. If you look and listen carefully, you’ll notice differences — perhaps a child likes to be silly with one parent and cuddly with the other. I do my best to photograph not just the family as a whole, but also the special qualities of the various relationships within the family.
Would you like me to photograph your family, too? Browse the photos in my Families and Kids gallery, and then contact me to tell me about the special people in your own family. I’d love to get to know them.
