The wedding we photographed over the weekend was a special one for us. Paula and Tim are close friends of my parents, and my mother was the matron of honor! They got married in beautiful Jekyll Island, Georgia, in an outdoor ceremony right along the beach. Mike and I were thrilled that they asked us to be their photographers, because it meant a lot to us to be able to do that for them. We decided to take a week-long vacation to relax in Savannah and Jekyll Island before their wedding day. We stayed with my parents in a rented beach house, and spent the week with Paula and Tim and their friends and family.

The wedding was gorgeous. We loved the outdoor venue, the leaning trees, the reflections in the water, and the beautiful evening light. Paula and Tim, thank you for including us in your wonderful celebrations all week, and thanks for introducing us to Jekyll Island. We hope you love the photos!

Paula’s son and uncle escorted her down the aisle, under a canopy of dramatic, twisting trees.

After the family portraits, Mike and I took a walk on the beach with Tim and Paula.

I asked them if they’d be willing to walk in the water. They said no. I said, “No problem, but I just had to ask.” Tim wondered, “Why? Would it make for a good picture?” I assured them the pictures would be beautiful. They next thing I knew, Tim was taking off his shoes. I love photographing couples who trust us so much!

The reception took place in this open-air tent, right next to the beach.

This lucky girl got to lead the conga line.

I love this picture of my parents in the conga line!

Of course I had to take a self-portrait with my mom and dad! I had so much fun dancing with them that night.

OK, while I’m at it, here’s another one of my parents. 🙂

Such gorgeous photos! I am glad they trusted you and stood in the water, the shots really came out nice!!

These are amazing. I LOVE the ones of them reflected in the water. Especially that very first one. Those are awesome!

what a beautiful place for a wedding!
      gorgeous pictures, as usual!!!!
i love that your mom was matron of honor! everyone looks so beautiful and happy!

I found your journal via Mr. Kyle Cassidy’s, and I’m so glad I did. Your photos are so moving – you can actually feel the life in them. Also, that is one of the very best ring shots I’ve ever, ever seen. In my opinion that is much better than the traditional hand shot. Thank you for sharing these!

Wonderful pics, as always. 🙂 How’s you like Savannah? Did y’all get to go out to Tybee?

I love seeing pics of older couple’s weddings! I think there’s a joy that bursts from them that you just dont see in younger couples, kind of like they realize that life isn’t perfect, and they’re not perfect, but they love each other, flaws and all 🙂

The photo of the open air tent is very cool – looks like something from a Midsummer’s night dream

(and the pics of the kids is great – I loved being able to make a goofy face pic when I was little!!)

The lighting at the end of the ceremony worked out perfect for you!

oh so beautiful- as they always are! what a wonderful location!

i love, love, love that ring shot!

I love the reflection on the sand/water. And wow are Paula and her children gorgeous. They must have gotten some movie star genes! 🙂

omg, the calla lilies are awesome. Also, your parents are so photogenic…it’s cute.

      these are INSANE! SOOOO beautiful!

The tent shot with the fisheye lense is fantastic — the points go right towards the moon, like they are dancing. 🙂

I loved them! You’ve managed to get such a beautiful feeling into them, they’re all relaxed and seem so happy, as they should on this day 🙂

And I also agree with the setting. The trees are stunning and I am glad the couple agreed for the shots in the water.

Beautiful work of a real professional!

Absolutely gorgeous shots! Everyone looks so relaxed and happy.

These are so wonderful!!! They’re such a beautiful couple. I really really love the photo of the rings dangling on the plant. Nice job.
