I’ve known Lauren since she was 13 years old, and now she’s all grown up and gorgeous! Lauren started her senior year of high school last week, and I was thrilled when she asked for me to do her senior portraits. Congratulations, Lauren! Senior year is so much fun, and I hope you love it.

Wow! Lovely photos Charlotte. She’s really pretty and with you as the photographer, that’s quite a combination. 😉

I’m not really a wine person. And it’s interesting being back at UVA. It’s funny how much nicer grad school is, even the stupid drunken behavior that’s so god awful obnoxious at undergrad is just a little more amusing in grad school.

So many people here end up saying “oh, you must have loved it here if you came back.” And unless I’m feeling lazy, I’m usually honest and say “I thought it was so-so” and people are like “and yet you came back?” And I have to explain that I took it on faith that people would be better. That one aspect ends up being a little tedious.

Great plan… good luck with it!

We’re going to be advertising in some of the school newspapers this fall. We already have a few lined up and I can’t wait.

      Thanks!

Senior portraits are used in the high school yearbook–each student chooses one photo to be published in the book. My clients also use the photos to send to relatives, include in graduation announcements, print in signature books, or just store in albums. Basically they are a celebration of one’s entrance to adulthood. It’s a fun age to document!

Haha! Busted! That’s hilarious. She definitely is pretty, though!

I don’t think this style is the norm for senior portraits, but I prefer to do my own thang. 😉

How cool that you’re back at UVA. I hope you enjoy it the second time around. I took these photos near Scottsville, at the Kluge estate. Those Kluges have way too much beautiful land… seriously it’s gorgeous. You should check it out sometime and go try their winery.

Nope, it was her dad’s. But she looks good on it!

And you’ll say you knew me when!

      Thanks so much, Lynda!

Yay, thanks for the great compliments!

Thanks! I’m so glad you’ve been enjoying the photos this summer!

I hope you will! It’s great to have you here. 🙂

      Thanks!

I lit #1 with an off-camera flash that my mother held for me. 🙂

      Re: stunning, frankly!

Thanks so much! I had a lot of fun with this shoot. 🙂

I love photographing seniors, too! I majored in adolescent psych in college, so I really should be marketing to this age group more. They are so fun!

I’ve been loving your recent photo shoots, and I’ll stay tuned for more!

I miss the trees, too! I especially miss the trees in October.

I guess she does look a bit like a young bride here! But nope, she’s a fabulous 17-year-old modeling in the woods.

Oh that’s too bad! Mine totally sucked, too.

Thanks! I love that one, too. It’s a little strange to photograph someone with her eyes closed, but she looked so beautiful from that angle.

Thanks! I love doing senior portraits, and I really want them to show how fun and unique each of them are. 🙂

Thanks! I know what you mean about typical senior portrait cheese, and I definitely try to stay far away from that. 😉

Really excellent work and a good model doesn’t hurt either, does it? My favourite was the one of her sitting on the fence, there just is something about that photo. But all of them, fabulous!

So what are senior photos used for exactly? I am not familiar with the American culture so I am a bit confused.

In that first non lj-cut pic she looks a lot older. With the white dress, I was thinking a cute bride? Then I felt like the guy in Old School, who finds out she’s in high school. whoops.

Seriously, you do great work. I like the first Harley picture. The fish eye is cool too in the woods. Senior pictures have come a long way. Is this the norm now?

I need to start reading your subject first. 😉

Wow, those are really good (I’d say best I’ve seen on your blog). What part of C’ville did you take these at anyway? Last week I just got back to the ville to spend another 3 years here…but I can’t say I remember any place that has quite the scenery you have in those photos (mainly because of the ones with the fence though)

OMG, look at those eyes! Beautiful! 🙂 I love the pic of her sitting on the fence. Well, i really like them all, but that one really stood out for me. 🙂

Wow! I wish you had taken *my* senior pictures. She’s so pretty and she obviously had a fantastic photographer!

      Was that HER Harley?

      Wonderful session Charlotte

love the lighting in the trees and how her green dress mingles well with the background.
      another amazing shoot!
      you’re gonna be famous soon!

There’s no way that’s her bike.
The displacement of that engine is probably twice what her little body can handle.

Damn Charlotte.. once again.. you blow my mind.

2ndly.. she is just gorgeous… and her eyes are mesmerizing … great work all around, I KNOW she will love every proof you give her.

      Lastly…

      WOW! 🙂

Beautiful, like all the rest of your work that I’ve seen. I had to save my first comment to your LJ for something special though, and I have to say those motorcycle shots and the jumping off the fence pic seemed ideal. Keep it up, you’re a joy to watch.

OMG, those photos are just wonderful! I’ ve been reading your journal for quite a long time but this is the first time I join that “omg it’s wonderful” gang and leave a comment here.

I wish I could find myself in front of your camera one day…..

absolutely amazing! it’s so hard to pick a favorite, but #4 is right at the top of my list.

I’m curious to know how you lit #1. Can you share, please?

      stunning, frankly!

I’ve always loved your work, especially your trash the dress shoots, but this is some of the best I’ve seen – anywhere! She’s certainly a heartbreaker in the making, you’ve captured her wonderfully, congrats; I think she’ll be pleased with these shots haha!

She’s gorgeous, and Charlotte these photos are amazing! 🙂

Great job, Charlotte! I really love the first one as well as the fifth from the bottom – the colors are beautiful.

I’ve been doing a bunch of seniors lately, too, and I absolutely LOVE it. That age group is so fantastic to work with. I think I enjoy doing senior portraits even more than weddings! You should check out my LJ- Seems like since going full time on photography that’s all I ever post about lately, hehe.

absolutely stunning. Both lauren and your work. so vivacious, fun & lovely.

Green and trees! Ah how I miss VA. Gorgeous pics!

For a second, I saw a girl in a white dress in the woods and I thought, ooooh here we go again with the runaway bride!

Lauren is gorgeous and I love how she picked trees as her setting.

That motorcycle photo is totally fun too! And I love your close up at the end with her hair, just beautiful and really different.

She’s gorgeous. I especially love her hair and eyes. 🙂

      Wow.

Those pictures are absolutely awesome! You take the best photos ever!!!!

these are great! I wish I had you take my senior pics! They’ll put the ‘school photographer’s shots to shame 🙂

The ones of her on the Harley are fun – Is that her bike?

She is striking. These are gorgeous images.

Charlotte, I wish you’d been able to take my senior portraits…they kind of sucked.

      it’s beautiful! 🙂

Great set of shots. I like these SO much better than alot of what I’ve seen lately. So much gimmicky stuff is happening with senior photos right now… this looks like a set that she’ll be able to look back at in 20 years and still enjoy.

But starting school in the middle of August??? Ack…

What a beautiful girl! I think my favorite is the third one (the one with her eyes closed).

I love that the senior portraits that you do seem to really capture their personalities. This isn’t surprising from you, of course. But it’s nice to see more than just, “Hi, I’m standing against a nice rock wall.”

      Those action shots are awesome!

wow, she is gorgeous. wonderful job as always. though i bet she was an easy subject to work on!
