I had never heard of Kincora when they contacted me to inquire about my services. I’m so glad I know about them now, though!

This new community in the Dulles/Ashburn area is going to be something really special, and I don’t say that lightly. It takes a lot for me to love a new housing development. This one, though, will combine so many things that I love: walkability, mixed-use zoning, live/work/play lifestyle, hiking trails, Main-Street-style retail, and two exciting new museums. Get this: Kincora will be the home of an enormous new Children’s Science Center and also the new National Museum of Intelligence and Special Operations.

And if all that weren’t cool enough, Kincora is also the home to approximately 55 heron nests in preserved lands with trails for bird-watching. See, I told you this place is going to be cool.

Right now, though, the Kincora development is still a construction site. This new community needs a couple more years to come to life.

That didn’t keep people away from Kincora Fest, though! Over the weekend, there was a big party for the public to celebrate this new community. The festival included a free buffet from Mission BBQ, beer from Old Ox Brewery, live music, games, and hiking along the bird-watching trails.

So yeah… this whole day was completely up my alley. I got to photograph happy people, wildlife, bluebells, and nature trails, and get paid for it. Oh, and the weather was perfect, too.

I had a smile on my face the whole day.
