I am proud of my country today. I’m glued to the inauguration coverage on TV, wishing I could have been there myself. Today I really miss living in the DC area. Still this is a profound moment in history that I will always remember.

The best thing about Inauguration Day is that the United States is one of the very few countries in the world where transition between leaders takes place smoothly and on a set schedule.

In most other democracies, elections are “called” when the national Parliament or Congress takes a vote of “no confidence” in the current leadership.

But here, elections are held on a regular schedule.

Sure, it may mean a “marathon” election campaign, but all-in-all, I think there are more advantages than disadvantages in having our system hold elections on a set schedule.

it’s true. though, i think if he accomplishes even half of what he’s aiming for, things will be much better than they are now.

Lol… My husband didn’t quite understand my tears, either!

That’s so exciting! What a huge honor!

It seems like many people around the world are looking to him for change. What a huge responsibility he bears.

I was moved to tears so many times that day!

My boyfriend made fun of me when I cried during Obama’s speech. I sniffled a little bit and he went “Hey! If you’re gonna do that get a tissue. Don’t snot all over the blanket.” You might have to know him to know that yes, that was just harmless teasing.

But he still got smacked. 🙂

I wish I had been there! My school’s band (the only group from AZ!) got to play for Obama in the parade. That was awesome to watch – my friends are in the band. =)

      :D!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
      My president is so cool.

it’s a great day for the world to change 🙂

Yo-Yo Ma moved me to tears before the actual swearing-in. Whew! What a wonderful day. 🙂
