I’m excited to announce that I’ve won another prestigious Documentary Family Award for family photojournalism. Placing in this international contest is really difficult and rare, because there are thousands of entries from very talented photographers from 40 countries.
This award is particularly fun for me, because it’s a photo of my son, and because his hilarity helped me win in the Humor category.
Look at his eyes. His eyes make the shot.
Daniel and I were watching the live judging online when we saw that a photo of him was selected as a semi-finalist in the Humor category. He and I both squealed when judge Kirsten Lewis Bethmann said, “I fricking love the kid in the corn!”
My kid in the corn ended up winning me a 7th place award. Thank you to the Documentary Family Awards and to my goofy and hilarious son.
Check out all the winning photos HERE. Some of them take my breath away.
