This morning I was photographing beloved children’s band Rocknoceros perform at Reston Town Center. They were set up in the usual Saturday morning concert spot: the center of Town Square Park, with the splash pad turned off, of course.
This is how concerts have been set up for many years, so it was a total surprise to everyone when, out of the blue, the fountain turned on! The band and their equipment were suddenly engulfed by water!

The story has a happy ending:
Staff members from Reston Community Center were able to turn off the water and electricity immediately. No one was injured. Parents hurried to the band’s assistance, pulling blankets, towels, and dry clothes out of their diaper bags and wiping off the equipment. The band members remained cheerful and optimistic. I’ve heard their equipment will be fine, and I certainly hope that’s true.
Rocknoceros, I hope everything is drying out ok! Thanks for being such great role models for the kids of how to behave in a crisis.
