Mike and the Easter Bunny deliver baskets to children with cancer
Colorado Springs
March 24, 2007
Yesterday Mike and I traveled all over town with the Easter bunny, delivering baskets to children with cancer and their siblings. The baskets were prepared by volunteers of Compassion for Kids, an organization that serves to enhance the lives of children undergoing cancer treatment. The children were thrilled to see the Easter bunny in their own houses!
Here’s little Grace! You might remember her from my trip to the zoo with her family.
Little Jacob was asleep when we delivered his basket.
Our wonderful Bunny was 13-year-old volunteer, Katie. She was so good with the kids!
You got some great photos. The children look absolutely thrilled to see the Bunny and get an Easter basket. Such cute expressions.
gorgeous pictures, and an amazing idea.
thanks for sharing the photos with us.
FANTASTIC! What a wonderful afternoon you gave those kids! You’re both such compassionate people!
Many hugs!
you rule!
you and mike are the sweetest. i swear.
That is such an awesome thing for you guys to be a part of. These pictures are bittersweet–I love looking at them but I feel so sad for these kids who have to experience what they have.
My favorite photo here is the one of the basket next to the sleeping Jacob. That is just too sweet for words.
They really are! And so are their amazing parents.
Go give your precious kidlets big hugs, please. 🙂
That would be fantastic! Keep me posted. 🙂
I -think- the conference is during my spring break. If so I’m totally up for coming out early and exploring the town! And meet the famous you!
This brought tears to my eyes. How wonderful!
That’s fantastic! They’re brave kids.
Yup, I did it last year!

I love this organization! Brenda, the woman who founded it, is one of the nicest people anyone could ever meet.
i remember you doing this last year (or was it year before).
these kids are so strong and brave and what a wonderful organization!
Awesome! You are going to love it! Let me know if you have any free time. 🙂
coolness! I’m going to be in Denver for a conference in about a year! I’ve never been and am very excited!
It does! But more importantly, it brings a smile to these families. 🙂
Yeah, it’s so unfair. I guess what I’ve learned is that every day counts, so I hope we made yesterday an extra special one for these kids and their families.
Aw thanks, but no, we’re just fortunate people, trying to give back a little. 🙂
We’re about an hour south of Denver, and 1.5 hours south of the downtown area.
Have I mentioned that you and Mike are Good People? I’m pretty sure ya’ll are even Awesome People!
PS – how far away from Denver are ya’ll?
What an amazing organization! It must make your life feel so fulfilled!!
Fantastic!!!
That’s the best. :0) You caught a lot of great things in these photos.
Such a shame that some kids (or anyone, for that matter) have to go through cancer. 🙁
