I took my kids and their friends to the Artechouse in DC to see the new digital exhibit called “Infinite Space.” This exhibit was created by media artist Refik Anadol, who uses machine intelligence to collect data that surrounds human experience and translate it into immersive, transforming art pieces.

It’s so hard to explain what this exhibit is. You really have to go see it for yourself and interpret it your own way. Each of the five of us experienced something different, but all of us loved it.

My favorite part of the Infinite Space exhibit was my son’s reaction to it. While the rest of us were wandering around and taking photos, 8-year-old Daniel was watching the digital art with rapt attention. Dan has ADHD and doesn’t often like to sit still, but this exhibit had him in a meditative state.

Later he told me that he spent most of our time there contemplating universal geometry in nature, and speculating on how those patterns may also be reflected in the shape of the universe. He concluded that the universe is probably spherical and ends where it begins.

This kid is something special and I love his brain. Thank you, Refik Anadol and Artechouse, for inspiring this young mind. You make a difference in this world.
