Nicole and Matt
Aspen, Colorado
May 3, 2008
Aspen was such a wonderful place for Nicole and Matt’s wedding! They got married Saturday in downtown Aspen, and then we had a great photo shoot with the entire wedding party in the streets. It helped that Matt is a police officer, and his police friend blocked the street for us! Then we headed to Snowmass for a reception at the events center where Nicole works, the Anderson Ranch Arts Center. They had a great DJ and friends who partied hard all the way through the night. I couldn’t stop laughing at their craziness!
Nicole and Matt, what a perfect wedding day! I hope you’re having a great time in Mexico!
They got ready in their suites at the Hotel Jerome in downtown Aspen.
Matt and his dad
What a gorgeous hotel!
The hotel was two blocks from the church, so we all walked. Drivers kept honking at Nicole!
Just before walking down the aisle
This is one of my favorites! Breana points the way for her brother, Logan.
The groomsmen played a prank on Nicole and Matt during the ceremony! The best man, Seth, pretended to have forgotten the ring. One of the other groomsmen used his cell phone to call an usher in the back of the church, which was hilarious. He ran up front to give Seth the ring!
Immediately after the ceremony
Afterward, we wandered the streets of Aspen with the wedding party.
Seth disappeared to the bar during the group portraits! This was his return.
I loved this building and decided to use it for pictures before I even realized that it’s the courthouse. It’s appropriate for a police officer!
Matt’s friend, Rick, drove them to the reception in a police car! We stopped for more photos along the way. I took this photo while leaning out the window, Ace Ventura style.
I love this one of Nicole and Matt walking through a field. I’m so glad Nicole wore comfortable shoes!
We loved this red barn! Nicole wanted a serious, American Gothic photo…
… but newlywed Matt couldn’t stop smiling!
I love to observe sweet moments like this one with Matt’s dad.
How funny that the groom’s cake was a stack of donuts! All the cops in attendance loved them.
First dance
I’m not entirely sure, but I think he was hitting on the bride, and she was setting him straight!
I loved this dance between Matt’s dad and his daughter and granddaughter.
Singing “You are the wind beneath my wings.” Ha!
I think I laughed for four hours straight that night.
Part of the success of this party was due to the excellent DJ, who spun vinyl and was really good!
Last dance of the night, with a kiss from Nicole’s sister.
Hotel: Hotel Jerome
Ceremony: St. Mary’s Catholic Church
Reception: Anderson Ranch Arts Center
DJ: Jonas of Rocky Mountain Deejays
That was a great wedding, as I can see :)))
I also love to watch people wedding pictures as they are about happiness and charge me with it for at least one day π

Thanks, Lars! I’m so glad you think so! It really was a fantastic weekend.
Nicole and Matt, we’re so glad to hear it! It was a complete delight to be able to photograph your wedding, and we’re so glad you love the photos! You two were so much fun, and I wish we could do it all over again. π
I loved that barn, too! I could have stayed there for so much longer, if time had permitted.
I’d love to come to Canada!
Ha! Yes, exactly! I always feel bad for blinding everyone, but it sure does look good. π
>> I always feel like I’ve just gone to a wedding
I love that! I really want my photos to help people understand the story of a day, so it’s great to hear you say that.
Come cook for us anytime! I messed up the peanut butter cookies I attempted yesterday… I’m doing a great disservice to this lovely kitchen. π
I think that’s right! She was able to traipse comfortably all over town… fantastic idea.
Re: hello
Thanks! That’s exactly the kind of wedding photo that I love to take. π
Re: Wow.
Hi Caitlin! I’m so glad to hear how much you love the photos! I’ve put them all online and sent the link to Nicole. You can order prints directly from the website. π
Thanks!
Charlotte
Happy Mother’s Day, Charlotte!
I know this will be a very tough Mother’s Day for you because your beloved Roger The Cat recently passed away.
But I’m sure your other little ones, Janie The Cat and
Ally The Dog will be extra nice to you tomorrow for they know it’s Mother’s Day (and their Daddy, Mike, probably kept reminding them the last few days to be extra nice to you on Mother’s Day).
Charlotte & Mike,
You two really did capture the fun, love, excitement and beauty of a weekend that I and all of us will never forget. I can’t wait to see the rest of your talents.
Lars
what’s vinyl? π
wonderful photos as always. they look so happy and i loved the donut “cake”.
again, you and mike just amaze me!
Charlotte, I dont even know what to say. These photographs are so much more than we could have ever expected. They are absolutely gorgeous and captured our day perfectly. We just could not be more thrilled.
Thank you so much for everything. You and Mike were just plain fun to be around. You two were so willing to do anything and go anywhere- you really made the day even more fun for Matt and I. We just cant thank you enough.
We cant wait to see the rest!
Love, nicole and matt
The red barn is definitely my favorite. I am SUCH a sucker for red.
Great photos, and what a fun group of people!
wow wow wow! These are beautiful!
If I ever get married, I may have to see about flying you up to Canada…your pictures just blow me away.
OUTSTANDING lighting in these! On-camera flash pointed up & back in the guests faces? π
great shots, as always!
The lake is so beautiful.
Great set Charlotte!
I think those are the same those I wore for my wedding- Sketchers!
The lake is so beautiful.
I love when you post your photos for so many reasons, but one of those reasons is because I always feel like I’ve just gone to a wedding. Granted, there’s no cake for me, but who needs those calories?
I love LOVE when people do funny stuff like a cop having a donut cake. Weddings should be about the people, and when people truly embrace that, it makes the whole event so comfortable and fun from the get-go.
Beautiful work again from you and the hubby! Now that you’ve got your new kitchen I’d like to re-offer myself as your intern/cook if you’ll just teach me to do that. π
hello
that little girl pic is sooo soo cute;)
Oh my goodness. These are so beautiful! I cannot get over how sassy that little flower girl looks. But really, the pictures you took capture the fun and love that should make up every wedding.
Wow.
Charlotte,
Wow……. I am speechless. I have been checking all day waiting for these and they were well worth the wait! Nicole e-mailed earlier from Cabo saying she saw the last post and just couldn’t wait to see the rest. These are so beautiful. I love the American Gothic pictures! So funny!!
I was wondering, are we going to be able to order prints from you?
Nicole and Matt are going to flip when they see these…. Amazing work.
Love,
Caitlin
:D:D:D! I think this is actually one of my favorite weddings yet! I love the “getting ready” pictures, the dress photos you do are so beautiful and creative.
The post ceremony pictures are great! I love the ones with the wedding party, and the use of her veil in the wind.
And the reception! I was laughing looking at some of those pictures! π
Your pictures are always so amazing, Charlotte!
What a beautiful wedding!–I loved the bride’s veil. It looks like you had a lot of fun with Matt and Nicole!
