Joe and Rachel
      Key West, Florida
      March 12, 2006

Last weekend we celebrated with our friends, Joe and Rachel, at their gorgeous waterfront wedding! Mike and Joe are good friends who used to be roommates when they lived in the DC area. We had so much fun at their karaoke rehearsal dinner and oceanside wedding. I only wish we could have stayed longer in Key West.

Congratulations, Joe and Rachel! We are so happy for you, and we can’t thank you and your families enough for the fabulous celebration you hosted.

Photos of the wedding of Joe and Rachel

The ceremony and reception took place at the Southernmost House,
which claims to be the southernmost hotel in the continental USA.
It is a beautiful Victorian house that sits on the oceanside waterfront.

The start of the bridal procession. I love the way that Rachel’s mother
and Joe’s father are looking at Rachel, while Joe’s mother is looking at Joe.

It was a funny moment when they stumbled a bit over their vows.

In this picture, Joe is watching as the photographer takes Rachel’s
picture at sunset. I love the way that he is admiring her.

They had delicious cupcakes! I must confess that I ate two of them.

This was a really special moment in the day for Mike. He wasn’t a
member of the wedding party, but Joe gave him the honor of doing the
best man speech. Mike was great!

The Southernmost was just as pretty at night as it was during the day.
The DJ was set up in the gazebo on the right side of the porch, and we
danced under the stars into the night.

As you must have noticed, the reception took place next to the pool.
It really was a matter of time (and drinks) before the groomsmen decided
      to do the obvious.

      Woohoo!

Of course I wasn’t going to miss out on the fun!

The party gradually shifted into the pool! The groomsmen and bridesmaids
jumped in, fully dressed. Rachel and Joe hurried to their room to change
into their swimsuits. We had a blast!

The party was so good that it even ended with a drunk bunny.

If it were possible, I’d take a penguin or an otter as a pet. But I’m pretty sure that’s illegal in Ohio.

I may strike up the “I want a pet bunny” phase when I get a house. I think it’s mainly the long haired, angora-types that I’m allergic too, so maybe just a cute little kinda-furry one would be okay? I’m willing to chance it!

      OH! hee hee. oops.
I HAD one. I miss her. But we have a cat.
      I love bunnies.

Oh, I know! I am a big fan of Oolong. ๐Ÿ™‚

I was just making a funny since my icon is actually hopping around with the pancake on his head as if he were drunkety or something.

I want my own Oolong, but unfortunately, I am allergic to most rabbits. ๐Ÿ™

I think your icon is an “oolong tribute”

(click on any of the links below – they’re in Japanese so may look ilke a bunch of question marks)

Oolong was internet-famous for balancing pancakes on her head.

      LOVE your icon!
      Mishka

Oh my gosh — that looks like so much fun!

And it’s seeing photos like these that make me daydream about a beachy wedding. It wouldn’t work out that way for a number of reasons, but I think they’re so beautiful.

And the drunk bunny! *dies laughing* THAT needs to be an icon. hahahahahaha…

Indeed! We ended up asking the taxi driver to take us to somewhere the locals hang out. We got really awesome, spicy Mexican food, and my aunt ended up feeding half of it to this poor dog on the street. She then ended up adopting two dogs there, and convincing her new husband to let her take them home with them….lol

Wonderful photos! So nice that you could enjoy the day purely as guests but I understand the need to still take photos.

Especially love the one of the table with the bouquet, the one of the groom admiring his bride while she is being photographed, and of Mike’s speech.

What a great way to finish the evening too, swimming!

What a gorgeous, colourful wedding! And great pictures, as usual ๐Ÿ™‚

Well you do have a good point there… it’s going to be hard to beat a wedding with The Drunk Bunny!

it will be! but now that i’ve shown people your pictures, they want to throw me in the ocean. heheheh. and i told david that we’d need a drunk bunny to be complete.

That wedding looks like SO much fun!

      Great shots… as always

Wow, these are such beautiful shots. Looks like fun! That picture of you jumping in the pool is funny, but cute. Congratulations to Rachel and Joe!

      http://www.charlottegeary.com/images/weddings/Recent%20Weddings/Rachel%20and%20Joe/abiog49.jpg – I love this shot!

Jumping in the pool was the best part!

Thanks! I really wanted to document it all, because everything was so beautiful and fun!

We couldn’t get those goofy grins off our faces all day.

I love the fish shadow photo, too. I think Joe’s cousins at our dinner table must have thought I was insane, moving all the centerpieces around and borrowing people’s napkin rings.

I was thinking of you that day, thinking how much you would have loved it! I hope your beach wedding will be just as great!

      Re: Wow Drunk Bunny

It sounds like your brother’s wedding was a blast! This one certainly was. ๐Ÿ™‚

Now that I’m back in my basement office in Colorado, I’m having trouble believing that all of this actually happened!

It really was great! Great weather, scenery, and company!

You know, weddings are usually a total blast, even for the dudes. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I imagine a wedding in Mexico can get pretty rowdy, too!

The pool was my favorite part, too!

Thanks! Everything was perfect all day, down to the bunny.

It makes me wish we had a rabbit at our wedding!

Wow, I bet it was wonderful to live in Key West as newlyweds!

I’m so glad I was able to take some great photos of the toast for Mike ๐Ÿ™‚

wow, beautiful, beautiful wedding. what an amazing location. I love that you all jumped into the pool. and I REALLY love the drunk bunny.

      Wow Drunk Bunny

Now THAT is a cool party!

This may be the only wedding that beats my most “fun wedding ever” wedding (my brothers wedding). Another beach wedding with lots of booze and a pool. Something about those weddings, they’re the best.

As always you have a fantastic eye. Inspirational shots, even from afar. Thanks for sharing.

      Awwwwwwww!! What wonderful pictures!

Looks like you guys had a BLAST!

      Gotta love drunken bunnies! ๐Ÿ˜€

looks like you guys had a BLAST! What a gerat wedding!

awesome pics! and what a beautiful wedding!
the pool is the BEST part! that looks like FUN!

I loved these photos and thought “wow, that looks like it was a fun wedding!”

Then I see the little drunken bunny and realized that this must have been where my icon came from! And I laughed a lot.

      i love the drunk bunny.

makes me wish we had done a beach wedding! lovely.

Looked like a wonderful wedding and what a fantastic location. Years andyears ago my husband and I live in Keywest for a year. Infacet it was our first year of marriage. What a trip that was. Anyway, we visited the Keys a few years ago and they were just beginning the reinvation of that lovely old house. I really enjoyed the pix and seeing how that all turned out. It’s beautiful. You had a very lovely wedding.

      Lovely!

The drunk bunny pic is great too.

Your photos are always beautiful. The Toast is, well, extraordinarily remarkable. So here I am remarking. Looks like a fun wedding!

This makes me think that every wedding needs a bunny!

That bunny still makes me laugh, too! It was a wild rabbit that just hopped over to the pool and helped itself to our leftovers!

It was a blast! I wish we could do it again this weekend. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Those are wonderful. It looks like everyone had a great time. The Bunny! Oh the bunny! I laughed so hard at that bunny!

Looks like you had SO much fun! ๐Ÿ™‚ Wonderful photos, as usual.
