A few days ago I headed to Manassas Battlefield to photograph this family from Gainesville, Virginia. Kerri and her teenage daughter and eight-year-old son wandered the lush green trails with me on this perfect summer day.

One of my favorite aspects of family portraiture is getting to know each member of the family, and figuring out how to best capture their uniqueness. This brother and sister had the sweetest relationship, despite different personalities. I loved learning about each of them and what makes them special.
