Charlotte and Mike
Briarhurst Manor
Manitou Springs, Colorado
September 15, 2007
We just love these guys! Not only are they cool enough to share our names, but they are also a lot of fun. Charlotte and Mike got married last weekend here in Manitou Springs, and they had the perfect night for a garden ceremony and a reception under the stars.
You might remember Charlotte and Mike from their engagement portraits at the Garden of the Gods a few weeks ago. Their wedding ceremony ended at dusk, which left us little natural light for portraits. Mike and I got creative with lighting! In this one, he was hiding behind the bride and groom with a video light, and I was using a tripod and long exposure. Thank goodness Charlotte and Mike are yogis and can hold very still!
Congratulations, Charlotte and Mike! We can’t wait until our next dinner out!

Mike was in a great mood!
Some of my favorite moments were Charlotte’s emotional reactions to seeing her friends and family before the ceremony.
Fanning away tears after seeing her mother
Her friend
Her father

On their way to the ceremony
There was a bug in the ceremony wine!
This was a funny moment. The best man was signing the marriage certificate, while the officiant was holding a candle to keep it from dripping on him. Meanwhile, Mike was removing melted wax from Charlotte’s hair.
A nighttime portrait of the newlyweds
Charlotte and Mike displayed three of their engagement portraits at the wedding, including this twilight photo of them in a yoga pose. I used the framed photo as a prop for the rings.
Andrew is Mike’s long-time yoga instructor. He read inspirational poems and writings during his best man toast.
He ended with a bow to Mike.

It was a fun party!
I love the layers of activity in this one.

Do you ever use your 15mm lense on your 30d? Can you show me what pictures you took with your 30d? Do you think I should upgrade to a 5d?
Oh wow, it’s great that I could be an inspiration for you! You are going to love the 40D. I usually shoot with a 30D as my second body, and it has been a great camera. Good luck!
Oooh! So that’s why your pictures are so wide! Thank you so much for everything. Your pictures amaze me so much that I literally went out and bought a 40d after seeing your blog!
It will definitely fit on a 40D, but since that’s not a full-frame camera, your images won’t be quite as wide and dramatic as they could be. I used a 5D.
This is going to sound stupid but can it fit on a 40d? What camera did you use? Thank you hun!
Thanks! That first photo was taken with a Canon 15mm fisheye.
Can I please ask you what type of fisheye lense you used? That first picture is the most gorgeous thing I have ever seen! Is it a wide angle and a fisheye?
it’s so cool that they both share your names!
She makes the cutest faces ๐
Re: What type of Dog do you have??
Thanks! Our dog, Ally, is a mutt of many kinds. The shelter told us she’s part Australian shepherd, and we think she has some Rottweiler in her. We’re not really sure what she is, but “dog” works for us. ๐
How funny! And aw, thanks very much for the compliment. ๐
What type of Dog do you have??
I have a crazy question: I love your work by the way, I keep coming back for more. Regardless I’m wondering what type of Dog you have. I love the coloring, it looks beautiful
Thanks ๐
Sarah
Simply perfectly! For a long time did not see such fine series. Gallantly three times!!!
It took me ten minutes to explain to my mother in law that these beautiful pictures are not of you, but BY you. I also showed her your wedding pictures so she would know you are beautiful too. hehe
You know, I’ve never been to a wedding where a yoga session broke out on the floor.
Beautiful photos, as always, and beautiful wedding! It looks like a lot of fun, and very cozy. Looking at these pictures gives me warm fuzzies.
These are gorgeous photos, good job Charlotte and Mike (the photographers). And, the newly engaged Charlotte and Mike are such a cute couple!
Oops, that was me!
Charlotte, once again, you guys have done an amazing job! I am sooo loving that first fisheye shot you used to introduce the wedding. Just gorgeous.
Amazingly good work Charlotte !
Wow !
I really like how you’re now addign in the “venue, dj, bridal gown, rings” at the bottom. Love it.
What a fantastic wedding! Beautiful job!
That’s what I thought the column of her dress is captivating, and the sky looks like a magic ocean.
What a beautiful day. What a tremendous celebration it must have been. everyone looks so happy and healthy!!
Cheers to Mike and Charlotte and Charlotte and Mike!!
Pardon my typos, I just woke up. ๐
Lovely as always! I don’t think I have ever seen any wedding photos from the Briarhurst. What a lovely venue.
I noticed the “Charlotte and Mike” after I loaded the full page and had to shake my head. I didn’t pay attention on my friends page and it gave me a giggle.

first pic…just beautiful! the colors…the sky…how you see her underlayer on her dress–so perfect….gorgeous!
You really raised the bar with these. I can’t believe how crisp the detail comes through. That fish-eye picture up-top is truly magical!
Those are all really nice images. Well done. =)
My jaw dropped when my friends page loaded…absolutely beautiful. ๐
Your indoor exposures are always so perfect! Excellent work. ๐
