I truly love my photo assignments and get emotionally attached to my clients. There are some photo shoots, though, that hold a particularly special place in my heart. This is one of them.
Last month, I worked behind the scenes with a devoted and adoring man named Anu who wanted to ask his girlfriend to marry him. After several phone calls and emails, we arranged for me to document his surprise proposal to Neha at Scott’s Run waterfall in Great Falls.
I brought my husband Mike with me as my decoy plan. Mike and I hiked the mile to the waterfall, where I pretended to be photographing him and the scenery.
With the help of my telephoto lens, we spotted Anu and Neha in the distance. We had never met them and weren’t sure what they looked like, but I knew he’d have his guitar with him. We had found the lucky couple.
When the time was right, Anu led Neha to a spot by the water where he serenaded her with his guitar.
I’ll let the pictures tell the rest of the story.
After they had celebrated together for a while, Mike and I introduced ourselves. It was such an honor to be the first people to congratulate them!
Then we began an engagement portrait session, complete with their just-got-engaged glow of happiness.
Thank you, Anu, for trusting me with such an important and beautiful day in your life. I’m so happy for you guys and delighted that you love the photos!
