Jasmine, learning about Pocket Wizards from Mike
The morning of Hollie and Micah’s wedding
April, 2008
As I mentioned in my last post, Mike befriended Hollie’s little sisters as we prepared to photograph her wedding. The girls were fascinated with our equipment. While I was taking photos of the ladies dressing and doing hair, Mike gave Jasmine and Mercedes a photography lesson. They helped him attach our Pocket Wizards to our flashes with velcro, and they did a great job, may I add. Mike demonstrated to them how the PWs activate our flashes remotely, and the girls seemed to grasp all the concepts really quickly.
Ladies, you know what I was thinking during this whole process… Is there anything more endearing than watching your husband be great with kids?
Look at their expressions — they were fascinated!
So of course Mike put them to work with the velcro. Is unpaid child labor illegal in Nebraska?
Mike gave each of the girls a flash, and told them to choose spots to test them. He activated them remotely.
Jasmine asked Mike how much this camera costs…
… This was her reaction when he said, “The camera costs $3000, and the lens costs $1000.”
Photo credit for this one goes to Jasmine! I’ll give her a job in a couple years. ๐
May I have those lessons too?)))))

Great to see!
It’s nice to see kids interested in things like this, and to have the confidence to participate. It’s just plain cute too. Way to go Mike for spending time with them and inspiring them!
so sweet!
Yeah, there’s literally nothing more attractive than my husband being good with kids. We have a good friend with a three-year old boy, and we also have three nieces and a nephew, so I see it a lot.
There’s just too much cuteness in these pictures to be ignored. So adorable. ๐

These are great shots. I love the one of Mike and the two girls, that is just so sweet!
it’s cute how you can kind of see jasmine’s reflection in the lens of your camera. at least, that’s what i think i see. ๐
so cute – want one now! The kid that is. The camera is awesome and so is the hubby but put me down for the kid please!
FUN!
I have always been a huge fan of giving cameras to kids. They just have an interesting point of view, literally and figuratively! Plus, I was the most excited little girl in the second grade when my parents bought me a Kodak instant camera for Christmas…I mean, later on a law suit by Polaroid forced Kodak to stop making the film for the camera, but by then, I was on to taking over my mom’s 110 camera…with the flash cubes!
So cute! And I ended up buying the Tamron 28-75 f/2.8 after talking with you for my indoor shots. I can’t wait to get it and try it out!
That’s some kind of cuteness right there.
