Robby and Mae
University of San Francisco
June 14, 2009
Mike and I traveled to San Francisco last weekend for the wedding of Mae and Robby. We love San Francisco ordinarily, but over the weekend the city was even more delightful than usual, with perfect spring weather. Mae and Robby got married at St. Ignatius Church, a gorgeous Catholic Church at the University of San Francisco. Their reception took place at the Cliff House, a restaurant that sits right on a cliff overlooking the Pacific. The entire wedding day couldn’t have been more beautiful.
Congratulations, Mae and Robby! I hope you are having a grand adventure in Italy!
Mae was looking beautiful before she was even fully ready.
Mae’s earrings were designed by her mother.
It was a team effort to lace up the gown!
Meanwhile Robby and the guys were getting ready in another part of the hotel.
Mae’s little cousin wasn’t eager to put on his ring bearer tuxedo.

Putting on the final touches
I loved photographing this church!
After the ceremony, we explored the USF campus for photos.
Mae and Robby met while she was a student at USF.

They named the tables after neighborhoods in San Francisco.
The wedding cake was displayed on champagne glasses that were filled with orchids.
This fabulous idea was one of many beautiful details designed by coordinator Duncan Reyes.

At one point, I stepped out onto the balcony and discovered the ladies having a little fun with Robby.

Mike waited for the perfect sunset sparkle in the best man’s glass.

What an absolutely beautiful location for a wedding! I loved the view and the sunset, it looks absolutely gorgeous. Some great captures there Charlotte, loved the picture of the little girl peeking over the pews!
Your photographs are amazing. I wish you worked out of Michigan.
Wow! She was a stunning bride and what gorgeous settings for photos! I adore their reception venue. As always, you’ve done a wonderful job capturing the story and emotion of the day.
These are fabulous!!! I am sure Mae is going to be thrilled – she looks so gorgeous!!! Thanks for posting these.
Charlotte, these are beautiful! and I were bummed that we were unable to make it, but your photos helped us feel like we were there for part of it, at least. Thanks! ๐

Well, that didn’t quite come out right I don’t think. I’m not saying that your photography was lacking 4 years ago… but your ability to deliver new and exciting photos again and again is truly amazing!
Wow! I’ve been following your blog for about four years now… and your photos have only gotten better! Some of these literally brought a tear to my eye. Stunning!
As usual, your photos are amazing!!!
She is a stunningly beautiful bride. And your pictures are just amazing!

Charlotte and Mike, these are fabulous! And what a beautiful couple for such a beautiful setting.
Bravo!

stunning!
So many beautiful images. I would love to see the photo of Mae in the car blown up huge. I bet it would really command a presence. It’s too hard to even pinpoint which other images to comment on. I love the ocean and ambiance you let seep in to your photos.

Wow! Beautiful photos! I love the cliff house. The beach nearby is where my husband proposed to me. ๐ Glad you had a great time in San Francisco!
Beautiful work Charlotte!

Congratulations to Mae and Robby!
Lovely photos Charlotte. You did magic again. I’m so glad you’re there, at least I was able to see the wedding photos of a friend.
We didn’t meet them before the wedding, but I’ve known Mae via Livejournal for a few years now, so it felt like I already knew her. ๐
My second shooter, Mike, went out at dusk for those nighttime photos of the venue. I stayed inside to photograph the dancing.
I loved the colors of that venue! There was beautiful uplighting inside and out on the patio, which was striking against the night sky.
Before or after meaning a day before or after the wedding date itself.
I really, really like the shots you get. The verticals, the sparkle in the glass, the reflection shot, the stairs from campus.
did you meet with them before the wedding? And, with the outside shots far away, did you shoot those before or after, or did your second shooter go out for those during the ceremony?
My one quibble is the one photo that’s noisy. I don’t know which number it is. And the second is that there’s one photo with the curved stairs, I think I would have tilted it to a different angle. But that one’s just opinion.

Beautiful as usual, Charlotte! ๐
Such beautiful photos! I love the lighting in the last two, how the blues contrast with the oranges & reds on both sides (the sunset & the building). ๐ Especially the last one!
I love San Francisco, too! We had such a great time at their wedding. I agree with you about that church — it was hard for me to narrow down the great church photos for the blog!
Hi Kathy! Thanks so much. ๐
I’m always happy to travel! ๐
Hi Christian! It was great to meet you last weekend!
*sigh* I love San Francisco! And that church is just beyond stunning.
Great work, as always!
Great job! I am so sorry to live far from you. I’d like to book your session:)))
Nice work Charlotte. It was nice to meet you at the wedding and looking forward to the rest of the pics.
