What a picture-perfect day for a couple that I have loved photographing over the last year! You might remember them from their proposal at Lake Anne or their rehearsal dinner at the Lake House. Their big day finally arrived over Memorial Day weekend, and it couldn’t have been more beautiful and fun.
The wedding day took place at River Bend Golf and Country Club in Great Falls, Virginia, which is a gorgeous venue with rolling hills, wide open skies, and beautiful architecture.
Kerry, her bridemaids, and the mothers got ready in the ladies’ suite at the club. I love this photo that shows what an elaborate process it is to prepare for a wedding.
The women wore matching robes that were monogrammed with their initials.
This photo of the bridesmaids’ reactions is one of my favorites of the day.
Another favorite is this photo of Jeff helping his younger brother (and best man) tie his tie.
Jeff’s other best man helped him with his boutonniere.
Finally Kerry was ready to go outside and see Jeff.
We took golf carts out onto the course to arrange a private photo shoot of the two of them.
Then the bridesmaids and groomsmen met us out on the course for more photos before we headed back for formal family portraits.
Siblings that get silly together are my favorite.
With most of the formal portraits complete, they headed back inside to get ready for the big moment.
I adore long veils and the way they look in photos. In order to make the veil flow beautifully like this, I used a trick…
… I recruited a helper! Jeff was one of the most committed veil-fluffers I’ve seen.
The reception took place in River Bend’s elegant ballroom, with gold chiavari chairs, blue table settings, and orchids hanging from the chandeliers.
First dance
During dinner, Kerry and Jeff planned something hilarious that I had never seen before. Instead of standard photos at each dinner table, they chose to do competitive silliness. With the DJ’s help, they summoned each table to the dance floor and gave them only a few seconds to arrange a wacky group photo. I loved this idea! It was hilarious and tons of fun.

The grand finale was a sparkler departure with a touch of fun blue bridal sneakers.
