The Colorado Springs Balloon Classic

Yesterday morning I went to Memorial Park for the sunrise launch at the annual hot air balloon festival. What a fantastic tradition this city has each Labor Day weekend! I brought only my little Canon G10 point and shoot to document the occasion.
The morning started out overcast and hazy, with a weather delay for the launch. This was easily my favorite of the balloons!
Soon the sun came out and the balloons went up!

This looks like an amazing event. Your location across the lake must have been planned. The way your caught the reflection of the balloons as they took flight is awesome. I hope some of these are hanging in your home. Keep up the good work!
Totally not fair! I went on Saturday and they didn’t launch because of lame weather.

That Noah’s Ark one is awesome! This makes me wish I would have gone to the Balloon Rodeo here in Steamboat this year… but I have a TON of good pictures from last year’s. They are launched near a lake here, too.
And why is it there is always a Re-Max balloon at these things? 🙂

I loooooove hot air balloons! They fly over wine country all the time, so pretty! Someday I will get to ride on one.
