My Mom and Dad!
The Broadmoor, Colorado Springs
December 17, 2008
Look who arrived today! My parents flew in from Virginia this afternoon to visit for Christmas. I’m so happy that they’re here! To celebrate their first night in town, I took them to one of their favorite spots, the Golden Bee. The Bee is an English-style pub at the Broadmoor that has live piano music and sing-alongs every night. After dinner and drinks, we walked through the Broadmoor hotel to see their gingerbread village display and all the decorations.
I shot all these photos on a Canon 5D and a 50mm f1.2 lens, with available light. That’s a fun lens!
Welcome back to CO, Mom and Dad! It’s great to have you here.
We were seated right next to the piano player, which was great, because we got to chat with him and he was really fun.
This is John Jones, the very talented and friendly performer for the night.
Then we wandered across the street to the hotel. It was dark, but not too dark for f1.2!
Some of the gorgeous Broadmoor Christmas decorations.
By this point, my jetlagged parents were getting sleepy, so it was time to go home.
Ally loves her grandparents.
Maybe too much.
Gorgeous photos!
By the way, I swear I saw your husband the other day in my store… but I don’t KNOW him in person and wasn’t 100% sure anyway so of course I didn’t say anything. He was with some guy who was buying something. Anyway, do you know if he was at Lush recently? Haha.
I’d suspect Ally and Janie are both very happy that Grandma and Grandpa are in Colorado Springs for Christmas!
Merry Christmas!!!
how dare you let your mom use a pc! Get her converted to a mac, stat! (j/k…or am I?) 😛
Beautiful photos…I love the one of your parents outside with all the xmas lights in the trees. Happy holidays to your whole family. 🙂
I am officially asking Santa for that lens, wow! My favorite is the one of your parents in front of the trees that are lit up. Just beautiful Charlotte!!
Amazing images with not even any flash! I only have a 10D. I don’t think it could manage images as good as these. Im waiting for my cam buddy to sell me his 1D LOL
Mmm…1.2 love!
You should totally give those pictures to the piano player. I think he’d really enjoy them – and you’d always get to hear your favorite songs when you went in! 🙂
great pictures – you capture life moments so great!
I wish my family photos looked more like this and less like…well, how they look. LOL
The lighting is what kills me. All of your pictures are really as if I’m just looking through your eye, while mine are obvious facsimilies of life. And that’s what I hate about my photography and what I love so very very much about yours. Well, and your fantastic eye for detail. And your ability to just take pictures whenever you damn well please. I get some sort of photo-shyness and start getting self conscious about taking photos like you have of the piano guy. It’s the reason I tend to stick so closely to taking pictures of cats or inanimate objects. LOL
I love these photos, they made me feel so warm and cosy!! I love the photos of the piano players hands! Lovely!!!! I’m so glad you are spending time together.
I love the last picture with your mom and Ally – it is so sweet!
I love your folks! Tell them I said “hi” and “Merry Christmas!”
AWESOME pictures. Glad you guys had fun …it looks MAGICAL! Hope you have a wonderful holiday!!
so funny 🙂
AAAAAH Zee Golden Bee. Fun place! I haven’t been there since after my brother’s wedding reception when a bunch of us in the wedding party decided we hadn’t had enough drink and fun times. I am sure we looked dashing in our brides maids dresses and the men in their tuxes. We drove all the way over there from The Colorado Springs Country Club. Yeah, we still needed some time out.
That was 1998! Oh geez!
That camera lens rocks, those are great shots.
very nice!!!
so funny 🙂

Your parents are adorable! And so is Ally in the last two pictures!
