Vonzell Solomon
San Francisco
August 2008
(Photos by Mike Pritchard)
After posting my point-and-shoot photos of us with American Idol singers, I realized that I never posted the great photos that Mike took during their concert. He got some great pictures of them!
When we were in San Francisco last month for Kristen and Yaki’s wedding, we stayed at the beautiful Hotel Nikko. One evening we came down into the lobby and saw the very distinctive Constantine Maroulis towering over a crowd of adoring ladies. Constantine was in our hotel lobby? It was a surreal moment. Then I realized that David Hernandez and Vonzell Solomon were also there, chatting with the fans. I talked with the concierge to see what was going on, and he explained that they were giving a concert there every evening.
As you probably know, I have a bit of a reality show problem, so naturally I bought two tickets for the next night’s show. Mike brought his camera and took great photos from our front row seats. Afterward we chatted with Constantine and Vonzell in the hotel bar. Mike showed Vonzell the photos and she loved them and asked for copies. Now that I’ve had some time to process the photos, I’ll email them to her as she requested. Mike got some great photos!
David Hernandez
Vonzell looked gorgeous on stage, and Mike’s camera liked her. OK, I think Mike liked her. π
Here she was describing her ex-boyfriend.
Constantine Maroulis closed the show.
Sure and thank you so much!!

Hi Stacy! I’d love for you to share the photos with David. Mike and I will email you the photos, if you’d like. Where should I send them?
Thanks! I was so glad that Mike wanted to take photos, because they turned out beautifully.
Re: Rrazz Room/Hotel Nikko
David put on a great show! I loved him on AI, and he was even better in person. I hope you’ll be able to see more of Constantine’s shows!
Oh wow, how cool that you were there the same day we were!
Lens
Thanks for the kind comments! I was shooting with a Canon 5D body and a 135mm f1.8 lens – my favorite lens! I would have taken more lenses with me, but it was just really a bit of fun.

My then-girlfriend and I (we split up in late July, 2006) attended the concerts given by the finalists of Seasons 1 through 4 of “Idol” at the Worcester Centrum in Massachusetts (my ex and I live near Boston).
“Idol” is my ex’s all-time favorite TV show.
The highlight of those four concerts was seeing the concert by the Season Three finalists. It was amazing to hear future Oscar-winner Jennifer Hudson belt out a song, and Season Three winner Fantasia Barrino’s rendition of “Summertime”, awesome on TV, was stunning in-person.
Since splitting with my ex (after Season Five of “Idol” ended but before the finalists’ concert tour hit town), I’ve only seen four episodes of “Idol” in their entirety—–the final sing-offs of Seasons Six and Seven and the finales of Seasons Six and Seven, where the winners were announced. I have seen bits and pieces of the audition episodes.
Sadly, watching “Idol” makes me think too much of my ex.
Hi. My name is Stacy and I run a fansite for David H and i’m a friend of his. Is it okay if I share these pics with him, as well as post them on the site. Credit of course will be given. π
Thanks

He really did get some awesome photos! π
All of your pictures of the Idols are truely amazing. You were really able to capture the moment on film.
Being a Constantine fan, I have to say Constantine’s take my breath away. He is a beautiful man both inside and out.
Rrazz Room/Hotel Nikko
I saw two shows the week before – I missed David. Vonzell was amazing, and I really liked RJ Helton. BUT, Constantine is my Idol and I have traveled far and wide to see his performances.
The Idols in Concert Christmas Shows won’t be at the Rrazz Room (unfortunately), but will be mostly East Coast venues.
Won’t make it to Broadway for Rock of Ages, but am loving pics and vids behind the scenes.
THANKS so much for the beautiful pix.
Beautiful shots! I was at several of those shows and was very impressed with all of the performances, but I admit I came for Constantine. π I was at that same show and remember you guys sitting off to our right.
Thank you for sharing!
OOOH! How fun for you! Mike took some great photos!!!
Re: oops
Thanks! Actually Mike and I are both pro photographers. Mike took all of these concert photos, though.
Re: Idols at the Nikko
How cool that you saw them, too! They were excellent in concert, and really friendly, too. That’s so cool that they’re coming back to the Razz Room in December. I hadn’t heard that Constantine is appearing in the Wedding Singer and Rock of Ages… fantastic.
The seats were unassigned, so they were first come, first served. Someone I know is a major dork and got there early. I’m not naming names, but it wasn’t Mike. π
It was a lot of fun! I only wish the concert had lasted longer!
oops
Just read your bio, Charlotte! I thought your hubby was the photog. These are truly gorgeous photos..
Idols at the Nikko
Those are amazing photos..and I thought mine were good! I, too saw these three idols at the Nikko and was completly impressed with all three! They were all so fan-friendly..and what a lot of talent!!
Constantine and David are also doing some December shows with Michael Orland (and the same band..as of last month) called “Idols in Concert for the Holidays”. Diana DeGarmo and Kim Caldwell are also in the quartette so it should be a great show! Tickets go on sale shortly according my latest google alert..
Constantine mentioned that he wanted to do the Dec shows with Michael when he was at the Rrazz Room, and I hope he can, but on Oct 16th he opens (and stars in) a brand new Off-Broadway musical in NYC, “Rock of Ages”- that highlights the music of the great rock bands of the 80’s- (previews start Oct 1)and it’s scheduled for an open-ended run. He did manage to get a couple of nights off from the Wedding Singer to fly to LA for some pre-scheduled shows so maybe he’ll get time off to do the Idols holiday tour this year as well.
Again…beautiful pics..someone must be a pro photog!!
Those are amazing!
And how on earth do you get front-row seats the night before the show? π
