Ali and Howard
St. Audries Park
West Quantoxhead, Somerset, England
May 24, 2010
This was a particularly special wedding for us. Mike’s lifelong best friend, Howard, got married in England to his lovely bride, Ali. Howard and Mike have been friends since they were three years old, and Howard was the best man in our wedding. Last week Mike had the honor of being one of the two best men in Howard’s wedding. I photographed it, and my friend David Pearce traveled from Kent to help me. Thank you, David!
Howard and Ali, we are so happy for you! You couldn’t have had a more beautiful venue or a more a perfect day. Thanks for asking us to play such important parts in your wedding! It means a lot to us.

May 2010: How it was Howard’s turn to be the groom!
The wedding took place at a magnificent manor home in the Quantock Hills of Somerset, England.
It was fun to photograph Mike in our hotel room, as part of the getting ready process!

They didn’t know I was watching this adorable moment — he used a flower to make a ring for her.
During Mike’s best man speech, he brought out some photos from the bachelor party.
After sufficiently embarrassing Howard, Mike took a more serious note and talked about how much he loves being married. Ali saw me swooning, and used my camera to photograph my reaction to Mike’s speech.
Ali is so cool that she actually rolled down a hill with the flower girls.

The evening was so beautiful that Mike and I got out my tripod for some fun photos. He took a great photo here, even though he’d been enjoying the champagne for hours by this point. (And after a few more drinks, he and the other guys ended up throwing Howard into this fountain later in the night. I was sound asleep and missed it!)

Charlotte, your photos are always stunning but these are exceptional. Ali and Howard must have been over the moon with these photos, what a lovely couple and an incredible venue.
I wasn’t able to attend the wedding due to work committments but seeing the photos has really brought it alive for me. Everyone looks so relaxed and as if they were having fun. Allie you look gorgeous and Howard scrubs up quite well!!!!
LOVE IT!!!
Their son is probably the most adorable child I have ever seen. 🙂

beautiful, beautiful, beautiful! As always. 🙂 And I will say it again, I am so hiring you if I ever get married. I don’t care what it costs me to get you up to Canada. 😀
I don’t really combine our trips to England with jobs — it’s our limited vacation time with family. If you’re interested in having me travel to England (or anywhere else), I’d be happy to do so, but I would require travel expenses along with my fee.
When on holiday in England, do you ever time it with work commitments, such as photographing a wedding while you’re there? Or is a “work comes first, if I’m there, that’s a bonus” sort of thing?
That’s right! Well actually we traveled to England for the wedding, but made sure to visit Mike’s parents for several days while we were there.
Brilliant shots. Wonderful locations I must say.

That means so much to me, Andy, thank you! It was really great to see you again last week, especially since it’s been so long. I’m sorry I never really got a chance to sit down and chat! I hope to see you again soon!
Beautiful!
Did you shoot this wedding while on holiday visiting Mikes parents?
These are really fantastic…I LOVE the one of the girl crawling in the window and all of the night ones.

As always these are truly special and beautiful photos (I wonder how many ‘hits’ you’d get if you search your blog for “beautiful photos”?!) But it’s when you see shots from a day we were all part of that I understand just how unique your talent is. You’ve captured Howard and Ali’s day exactly how it sits in my mind – and I’m pretty sure the happy couple are going to feel the same. Take a bow Mrs. Geary and soak up the applause – you’ve earned it!
