On Friday evening I had the huge honor (and great fun!) of photographing a surprise wedding proposal at Lake Anne! It was a gorgeous night, a perfect moment, and such a happy event to witness.
Jeff contacted me several weeks in advance and asked me to hover nearby and be secretly available to capture the big moment. I blended in with a crowd of people on the Plaza, and when I saw them approach the end of the boardwalk, I used a long lens to watch the events unfold.
First they strolled along the boardwalk, chatting happily together…
At the end of the boardwalk, he stopped and turned her to the side. It was the time.
She said yes! They turned toward the crowd of spectators as people clapped and cheered.
I introduced myself to the happy bride-to-be, and then took some engagement portraits of them during the glowing-with-happiness first hour of their engagement.
We walked over to the Van Gogh Bridge, which is one of my favorite spots in Reston, and a perfect location for some romantic photos together.
As we strolled around, Kerry had lots of questions for Jeff about how he had kept all these plans a secret. I loved watching them chat excitedly with each other as I photographed them quietly from afar.
These two are SO FUN. This was all their idea, I swear.
Jeff and Kerry grew up in Reston and have known each other since they were kids. Jeff climbed the children’s pyramid for old time’s sake, and then Kerry joined him at the top.
I’m so happy for these two! It was a fantastic night, and I’m honored to have been a part of it. Congrats, Jeff and Kerry!
