Fred and Suzanne
In the old chapel at El Rancho de las Golondrinas
      Santa Fe, New Mexico
      September 23, 2006

On the day after their wedding, Suzanne and Fred celebrated with a huge reception at El Rancho de las Golondrinas, a living history museum outside of Santa Fe. It was a stunning location for pictures, so we started the afternoon with a family portrait shoot. Afterward they greeted hundreds of their friends for their wedding reception. I loved the fact that the reception was elaborate, with gorgeous details and amazing food, yet it was casual, with a country western theme. Suzanne and Fred even wore cowboy boots!

Here is part 2 of this three-day wedding celebration: Saturday.

More of their family portraits and wedding reception

      Inside the old kitchen

      This enormous tree grew sideways.

In front of the morada, where men used to spend the 40 days of Lent as penance.

There were beautiful sights from every angle.

I love the lighting in this one.

      They are so happy together!

I love this one of Suzanne dancing to make Fred smile for the camera.
I didn’t even know she was doing that.

On the way to the reception

The reception took place in a huge tent. At sunset, a beautiful beam of light appeared.

They had a nine-tier cake, with this fantastic sculpture.

There were three food stations–pasta, sushi, and barbeque.
I loved the sushi; Mike loved the beef brisket.

They started the dancing with a tradition called the Hispanic March. Almost all of the guests
danced around the tent in a line, forming bridges, tunnels, and other fun. It was great!

That worked out perfectly! Happy anniversary. ๐Ÿ™‚

It does! Tomorow (Saturday) is two years to the day we met, and one until we get married on our three year anniversary of meeting. ๐Ÿ˜›

Oh no… sorry it’s still lingering! I hope it keeps getting better. ๐Ÿ™‚

I still have the lingering cold stuff (cough, sinuses, etc.) but I feel much better than when I first got home. It’s been a long week back at work too after being on vacation ๐Ÿ™ Glad yours cleared up so quickly. ๐Ÿ™‚

Hi there! I’m sorry–I just got this message now. I’ll gladly email you some information. Thanks very much for asking!

I hope you and Jon can make it there next month! What a great city, wow.

Thanks so much! I feel so lucky to be able to travel to these remarkable places.

I didn’t give them any clothing advice, which is good, because this group has much better fashion sense than I do. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Their clothes were gorgeous! They chose the color scheme themselves, and as you can tell, it was a perfect choice.

I can see why you’d be homesick. It’s a wonderful area.

Thanks so much! I think I decided it was allergies, because I felt better almost immediately after leaving Colorado. Are you feeling better?

      hahaha… boots. Definitely boots.

They really are a terrific couple! They just made me smile to be near them.

Wow, does that mean this weekend is your Negative-One year anniversary? ๐Ÿ™‚

i love love love her dress and the chapel. it’s so old and perfect. what a place to be!

Gorgeous photos, nicely done! You had beautiful backgrounds and awesome light. Seems like a fun wedding!!

I’m pretty sure that it’ll be more than we’re able to pay for photography, but can you e-mail me an estimate of how much you’d charge to shoot our wedding? It’ll be around 3:30 pm on Aug 5th (that’s a Sunday), 2007, in Minneapolis, with dinner and dancing afterwards. It can’t hurt to ask, right? My e-mail is mbroeker (at) gmail (dot) com. Thanks!

Gorgeous, gorgeous location. I love NM. What a fantastic wedding. And great pics of it, too, Charlotte. You do such a great job of capturing beautiful moments.

Oh wow, I love that place! I used to visit Santa Fe pretty much every summer growing up. It’s such an amazing city. Actually, Jon and I are TRYING to go there for a few days in Nov. I sure hope we can, I miss it!

And that looks like a wonderful wedding too!!

Everyone has such beautiful outfits! And the light in these photos is gorgeous. I especially love the colors and framing and perspective of the tree photo.

Excellent work as always! And you couldn’t possibly ask for a cooler location – nice!

For this photo: Did you tell them to dress in colors that compliment the photoshoot surroundings, or did they do that on their own?? Really noticable (looks great) in this photo: http://www.charlottegeary.com/images/weddings/Recent%20Weddings/Suzanne%20and%20Fred/sat_25.jpg

Officially homesick. I grew up next door in Arizona, with hispanic & native american themes permeating each of my days. I miss that, and haven’t found that tenacity of tradition, in any other state I’ve lived in.

Thanks for sharing these. Can’t wait to see the 3rd set. :0)

Great shots. For some reason, I really like the one in the car. Hope you are feeling better ๐Ÿ™‚

these people know how to throw a party! wow! these photos gave me goosebumps! I want to hang out with them!

Oh and I’m running RIGHT out the door to buy western gear like this for Mr. Dreamy!
