My niece Kenna, and my nephews Timmy and Robby
Breckenridge, Colorado
February 24, 2010

Here is the second set of our photos from last week’s family vacation! After a day in the Colorado Springs area, my family spent four days in Breckenridge. The nine of us rented a huge condo right across the street from a ski lift. We spent our days playing in the snow, and the evenings playing Wii with the kids. The highlight of the week was teaching the kids to ski. I guess technically we didn’t really “teach” them — we just stood them up at the top of a green slope, and let go. It was beyond adorable to see them on skis, especially my two-year-old nephew, Timmy.

Here are several photos of the adorable mini-skiers! All pictures are by me, my mom, and my sister-in-law, Molly.

My dad helping Timmy. Look how little he is! He looked like R2D2 on skis — he was all helmet.

Paul had to help Robby down the final stretch of the slope.

Here’s a great shot of all of us arriving at the bottom of the hill. I walked down the slope with Timmy, who loved the first half of the hill, and then got too tired to go further. I ended up carrying him down the second half of Silverthorne. I was exhausted by this point!

During the afternoons, Mike and I showed Paul and Molly around the mountain.

The kids LOVED the lifts! I swear they enjoyed the lifts more than the actual skiing.

At the top of the hill, each of us paired off with a child, and Molly took pictures.

Mike skied with Robby until he was too tired to move.

love the one when the kids are hugging! too precious!

Awesome!! Thank you so much, that sounds pretty perfect. We may end up there! 🙂

I’m happy to share a few smiles with you in Russia! 🙂

That’s so cool that your friend’s 4-year-old did so well! My nephew didn’t quite pick up the turns as well. 🙂

I definitely recommend Breck as the best place to learn in this area. The beginner slopes are long, wide, and easy, and there’s no risk of accidentally turning onto an advanced slope.

If you go to Breck, I recommend Peak 9 as a great place to learn, because that peak has the easiest green slopes. Move to the greens on Peak 8 once you get a little more comfortable. Then go to Peak 7 when you’re ready for easy blues. 🙂

Gosh, these photos are adorable! I love your family 🙂

Oh, quick question.. Is Breck a good place to learn to ski? I am SUCH a beginner but Jon wants to go somewhere to ski when we’re back in Colorado later this month and I’m trying to figure out where. 🙂

Andy! It’s great to hear from you! I hope you’re loving your winter in the Alps! It’s fantastic to hear about your brother’s wedding next month. I’ve definitely heard some great readings over the years… Go googling for the Apache wedding reading, Kahlil Gibran’s “On Marriage”, or the excerpt from the Velveteen Rabbit about love.

Vacation – my favourite thing of all. Top photos as always – I find it so tricky to get good shots on the slopes.

I now (un)officially pronounce you honourary Ski Instructors… Maybe next year I’ll get to Breck and can offer ‘the clan’ some tips?!

I also have a wedding question you might have fun thinking about. My brother would like me to do a reading on his and Caroline’s big day in April. From all the weddings you’ve attended, have any little gems stood out? Only stipulation is it must be non-religious!

Hope the first-day-back blues don’t bite too hard!

Oh my goodness, the pic of all three kids hugging where Kenna’s eyes are closed made my heart flip – they are so beautiful! It’s amazing how quick kids will catch on to skiing, we took my friends’ 4 year old to Utah a few years ago and he just followed his mom down all the hills. Turning and winding back and forth too 🙂

I miss Breck! It’s so beautiful there. Thanks for sharing your pictures!

These kids have gotten so big! They are SO DARN CUTE!!!! What a GREAT vacation!!!!

Thank you for sharing!
