December 28, 2007

Lisa and Josh were such happy newlyweds that they barely noticed the cold! We took this picture right after their ceremony last Friday, and it must have been 15 degrees outside at the time. We walked out the chapel doors to a blue twilight sky. You all know how much I love twilight; I was almost as giddy as Josh and Lisa. Mike helped me with the lighting for these nighttime photos, and the four of us had a fun portrait session in the dark. After the ceremony and portraits, Lisa and Josh celebrated at a reception at the Air Force Academy Officer’s Club.

Congratulations, Lisa and Josh! Thanks for making me feel like part of the family, and thanks for braving the cold!

Her shirt says “Military Bride.” Oops… I’m in this one. Where’s Waldo?

Things weren’t quite going as Lisa had planned. There were problems with the veil, placecards, and other important details, and she was feeling overwhelmed. Here she was taking a moment to herself to process it all.

I think you can see the stress in Lisa’s eyes here.

By the time she got to the church, her hard work was over, and the fun was beginning!

Josh arrived, looking great in uniform.

Josh had a gift delivered to Lisa before the ceremony. The envelope says “My beautiful princess.”

Meanwhile Lisa’s brother comforted their mom with a supportive hand.

Immediately after the ceremony, Josh and Lisa hid around a corner and spent a private moment together.

This just cracks me up. Disgruntled men in suits, forced to chicken dance. Good stuff.

I’m glad I could make your day. I definitely felt something looking at these pictures.

Thank you I appreciate it. I am happy to wait to have something that wonderful.

Re: THANK YOU CHARLOTTE & MIKE!

Hi Lisa! It’s wonderful to hear how much you loved the photos! I hope you and Josh had a great time in Broadmoor’s winter wonderland. I can’t wait to show you the rest of the photos. I’ll be done later this week!

Re: Beautiful Work!

Thanks so much, Meredith! I much prefer a more journalistic style, too. Wedding moments are so beautiful that I don’t need to stage them.

Mike and I each shoot with Canon 5Ds as our primary equipment. I love that camera.

I love that one, too. Mike does great work!

That’s great to hear, thanks! Because every wedding feels different to me, so I want to make sure that our photos reflect that!

Re: Lisa and Josh

The timing of our departure from the church was perfect. That twilight was magical.

I loved all the real emotion that I was able to witness that day.

I love the fact that you reacted that way, that you felt something in response to the photos. That makes my day.

I hope you have that someday, too. It’s worth waiting for.

Danger is my middle name. 😉

The chicken dance photo is one of my favorites!

It sounds like I’m going to have to visit Cambridge, then!

The Air Force Academy Chapel is unlike any church I’ve ever seen. It’s wonderful to be able to shoot weddings there.

They are adorable together!

Thanks, Ken! Yeah, that twilight sky was perfect. 🙂

THANK YOU CHARLOTTE & MIKE!

Hi Charlotte, this is Lisa. Josh and I just wanted to thank you for taking such beautiful photos! You truly captured all the special moments (stressful ones and all!) that made up or wedding. We can’t wait to see the rest! Thanks to you, we have photos our families will always treasure. You and Mike are the best photographers and such fun people, and we are so appreciative of all your hard work and talent. Thanks for helping make our wedding day perfect.

Beautiful Work!

I am continually amazed by your photos! I love the more “photojournalist” style that they have rather than your traditional “his family, her family” posed photos. Some of them have actually made me get a bit weepy…kudos from Birmingham!
What kind of camera do you use? It’s phenomenal!
