The cabinets are almost all installed!

Look! Cabinets! Not all of them are installed, though; some are just sitting there, waiting their turn. But at least I can finally visualize what this kitchen is going to look like! The color is a little off in this picture, though, because the wood looks a bit yellower here than it does in real life.

Today the guys are working on plumbing, the phone line, and leveling the counters. For a while we had a flooding issue that they managed to resolve while I remained blissfully ignorant. It had something to do with a “bib” that wasn’t right. I sat on my comfy couch in the basement and tried not to worry as the guys ran around the house to stop the water. I’m not wet, so I guess all is good. πŸ˜‰

Our appliances, flooring, and appliances have arrived. They aren’t installed yet, but I took pictures anyway. Who wants to see?

This is probably my favorite part, the granite! This is actually our granite backsplash, but I’ve placed it here to show how beautifully it matches the maple cabinets. Isn’t it perfect? The granite color is “tan brown.” If you look closely, there are even silvery tones that match our stainless appliances and cabinet hardware.

Here are the floor tiles. The color is “nautilus cream,” which has the warm tones of the wood and the white colors of the kitchen’s trim and accents.

Appliances! They are sitting all lonely in the garage. Our old white one is in there, too, and we’ve been living out of it for the last two and a half weeks.

Here’s our sink, made of black granite composite. We want it undermount, which means it will sit under the granite counters. The contractors are going to have to send it and the granite to a granite specialist who can cut the counters exactly right. That will delay the installation of our counters, which is disappointing, but worth the wait.

Ally watched from a bench in the backyard today. It’s a gorgeous day out, so I’m heading out now to take her for a much-deserved hike.

The cabinets are gorgeous, as are the appliances and granite. πŸ™‚ Your cabinets look like mine, but yours are darker. Love the last picture with Ally peeking through the window.

I love the new kitchen!

It looks awesome! Maybe Anna and I can fly out and see it in person sometime soon! I really miss you and love you SOOOOO MUCH!

xoxo,
Sarah

Wow, this is all so very gorgeous, hehe. I envy you to the max! But you’ve worked hard for all this, so congratulations and enjoy it!!

The colors are all beautiful and fit together perfectly. Sure they do, since they’ve been picked by two professional photographers!

Thanks for all the progress pictures, loving them!

Me neither! Stay tuned, because I bet I’ll have great photos to share later this week. πŸ™‚

Thank you! We have been spending most of our time in the basement, where we’ve set up some food, dishes, and a comfy guest room. It’s difficult, though! I can’t wait until our house is back to normal and I can get back to my routine.

Thanks! I was really happy with the perfect brown tones in that granite!

Re: Hehehe

Haha, yeah, I could definitely fix the color if I wanted to give it a little Adobe love. But no one cares about the remodeling photos except me and Mike, so I’ll spend my time on my clients instead. πŸ˜‰

We ordered some fluorescent bulbs online, but they haven’t arrived yet. It’s not a big deal, though, because we don’t use those lights — no one goes in that room at night.

As soon as Mike finishes inventing a teleporter, you guys can just pop over anytime!

Re: Hi

Hi Becca! How exciting that you’re moving to Denver! I think you’re really going to like it here in CO. πŸ™‚

I’m glad you think so! When we first bought this house, everything was so dark and dingy that our goal was to make the home look at least a little brighter. Now I think it’s sunniness is going to be one of its best features.

Such a lovely project – getting your kitchen together. Where do you stay btw? I think it’s so nice that you’ve got all that space and places to go on hikes.

the granite is gorgeous, and the complements the cabinetry so well!

yay! Yay for cabinets!!

Hehehe

Come on Charlotte… you know how to make those cabinets the right color πŸ˜›

Flash mixed with tungsten always brings out the “sickly warmth” of wood unfortunately.

BTW… With those recessed cans you might want to replace those incandescent lights with the compact fluorescent ones ASAP. Most people don’t think about it but it takes a lot more of those cans to light up a room evenly so you are using a ton more energy (and create gobs of heat). Also you can get the CF bulbs with better color temps to match your flash. πŸ™‚

Great images though and I am glad to see you having fun with a remodel. (And it’s great to watch someone else remodel with a 5D taking the images and not their cruddy camera phone)

love it all! i’m definitely jealous you got to pick everything out! we did not have that option.
that granite must be a popular color b/c it looks just like ours.

i love watching the remodel! can we all come over for brunch when it’s done? πŸ˜‰

Hi

I discovered your website a couple of years ago and have admired your work! Your pictures are AMAZING! And I can’t wait to see the completion of your kitchen.

I’m finishing up grad school in Minnesota this year and planning on moving to Denver, CO this summer. I’m SO excited, it’s so beautiful and I love mountains. Your pictures just emphasize that CO is the place for me! Hopefully, one day in the future I can have you take pictures for me!

As a kitchen freak, I’m excited to see this is going well.

Your kitchen is going to look lighter and more airy, and that’s swell. Also, those swanky appliances will give it a simple, but elegant, finish.

You don’t know how green with envy I am.

You and Mike are lucky ducks. Coming together quite well I must say!

πŸ˜‰

< grin >

this is all really exciting to me!! hehe. i can’t wait to see the finished product!

Wow! What a difference cabinets make!

I love that last one of Ally peeking. πŸ™‚
