Skiing in Breckenridge
February 1, 2010

I love living in a state that is full of fun things to do in every season of the year. Last weekend we went to Breckenridge and stayed for a couple days. Friends of ours from Colorado Springs were there, too, so it was great to have dinner with a big group of friends at the brew pub Sunday night, and then ski all day Monday.

After five years of living in Colorado, I’m getting pretty good at this skiing thing. I love to rush down hills that used to scare me when we first moved here. I’m still a slow and cautious skier compared to most people, but I like to think of myself as a badass daredevil. At least my fitness is pretty good, because I didn’t get tired nearly as quickly as I used to. Now I can’t wait to go back next week!On a random note, I discovered Monday that if you type “breck” into an iPhone, it auto-corrects it to “Breckinridge.” That would be really cool, if it wasn’t spelled wrong. Technology is funny.

A coyote ran across the ski slopes under our lift! It was really fast, so I was proud of myself for getting a photo of it! I had to rip off my gloves and unzip my pocket to get one quick frame of the coyote before it ran into the trees. I ended up dropping a glove in the process, though! Fortunately a nice person found it and turned it in at the base of the ski lift.

Peak 7 is my favorite part of Breckenridge. I love the rolling hills, trees, and smaller crowds. I could have done without the wind, though!Next week: Vail!

Thanks! I took them all with my point-and-shoot. 🙂

So pretty! Did you take those photos with your nice Canon camera or with your point-and-shoot? They look really nice!

I love the coyote picture. I’m completely jealous of your skiing ability. With a displaced knee cap, skiing would be a 1 way ticket to hospital land for me.

Nope, the scariest thing about skiing is definitely the sliding down the hill really fast part. 😉

We shared a ride on a lift that day with a 3-year-old and a 5-year-old who were on their way to ski school and had never ridden a lift before. They were really tiny, so I spent the entire time terrified that they were going to slip right under the safety bar and fall out!

i would say the scariest-looking thing about skiing has to be the ski lift. can you say PANIC ATTACK.

coyote looks so teeny and cute in that pic! like a little puppy haha.

That coyote picture is cool!

And that’s crazy about the iPhone misspelling Breckenridge ;). I’m sure there are a lot of other issues like that. Haha

Sigh, I’m totally envious! Hoping there is some powder left when we head out there on the 18th! 🙂
