On Sunday I had the pleasure of spending the afternoon with little Grace and her family. Grace is three years old, and she has leukemia. She is my new buddy through the volunteer organization Compassion for Kids, which strives to enhance the lives of children with cancer.

Grace and her family spent the day at the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo on Sunday, and I joined them to take pictures of their outing. They are such a fun family! Little Grace is such a charmer–smart, funny, and energetic. She had us all laughing all day. It was wonderful to meet them all, and I look forward to taking more pictures of them to document this time in Grace’s life.

Hi Jenna! That would be so great if you could help Commpasion for Kids! We’d love to have your talent and personality on board. I wish I had seen this comment earlier, so I could have chatted with you about it when we got together last week. Let’s chat next time!

Wow, you certainly do have good insight into what these kids are going through. That would be wonderful if you could volunteer with them!

Go Grace! Get Better! What a beautiful family!

Such a fun, happy family! Little Grace is a cutie!
I hope she can beat her cancer.

Oh my gosh that little girl is adorable. I really hope she gets better. I know what it’s like to be young and have cancer. I had a rare sarcoma when I was eleven. Great shots.

This is also something I want to do. Take pictures of sick little kids like I was when I was younger. I think that I could understand where they come from. It would be an amazing thing. Maybe someday.

Oh. My. Goodness. That pic of her dad and her laughing, the ‘dad’s in trouble’ one – SO CUTE!!! She is a gorgeous girl, I love her matching hat and gloves. Beautiful pictures!

Great pics! I think you are doing a great thing by helping these parents immortalizing these moments with their child.

What a lovely family. May she have a speedy recovery and a long, healthy life.

Hehe I love the “Dad’s in trouble” one. They look so happy. Very sweet. 🙂

What a beautiful little girl! You’ve captured her spirit so well in this photos.

Hehe that picture of her putting the huge gloves on is so adorable!

Great series. These will be some of the family’s most-valuable possessions, makes this whole photography thing worth it.

Those eyes…that grin…how well you captured them! I’m praying for a swift recovery and peace in her family.

      What a beautiful little girl!

great photos. Positive energy headed to Grace & her family from our home!

Great photos. I hope all goes well with her recovery!

Aw, she’s so precious. I sure hope everything goes well with her chemo and recovery!

      Great photos.

I knew I had recognized her. Her story was on the news recently:

Those photos will certainly be treasured for many, many years.

Here’s praying for her to have a full recovery.
