My birthday present!
      October 25, 2008

Thank you for all the wonderful birthday greetings this weekend! You guys made me smile! It was a perfect birthday, and I couldn’t have had a better day yesterday. The weather was 75 degrees and sunny, the leaves were at their autumn peak, children were wandering around in costumes, Mike and I had the entire day off to spend together, and my parents gave me a new bike! I took pictures with my point-and-shoot throughout the day; it was such a great day that I had to document it.

We started the day with a walk through Boulder’s Central Park. The colors were beautiful.

Mike took me out to lunch at the Boulder Tea House, which bordered the park and offered excellent vegetarian food.

Again, the colors were beautiful. I love October!

Outside the Tea House, waiting to be seated

Inside, the Tea House is bright and colorful, with architecture and decor by artists from Tajikistan.

      I had cherry green tea.

And then Persian chickpea kufteh with spinach, pine nuts, and tomato sauce. Totally delicious.

After lunch, we walked through the farmers market, where we bought these sunflowers.

Then we were off to Amante Coffee for vanilla lattes.

Then to University Bikes on Pearl Street, where I picked out my birthday present!

It’s a Trek 7100. I had wanted a cruiser bike, but decided to get one that would be better suited for the hilly streets of Colorado.

      It has flowers on it!

      And a basket!

      LOVE

Of course I had to spend some quality birthday time with Miss Ally dog.

Then we drove to Denver for the evening. The sunset was perfect.

We had dinner in LoDo (Lower Downtown Denver).

Then Mike took me to the Performing Arts Center to see the hilarious musical The Drowsy Chaperone”.
I laughed all the way through it!

Thank you for a wonderful birthday!

Looks like a great birthday. LOVE the bike! How cool is that??

I think it’s inevitable that we’ll end up back on the west coast at some point.

BTW, I’ve been thinking about getting a point and shoot. What are you using?

Oh wow! You have such a fabulous husband. Not that we didn’t know that already, but… I’m so glad that you had such a great day.

I bet it’d be much happier in a more pedestrian friendly city. Maybe you guys should get out of Chicago one of these days.

      Hey, Happy (belated) Birthday!! πŸ™‚

      Dear Charlotte,

Happy birthday! Looks like you had a great day. What a cute bike. Thanks again for your great work in recording Eric & Amanda’s day. We’re loving the online photos. Best wishes – the Wessel family.

Looks like a wonderful birthday! Jon and I just ate lunch, went bowling, shopped (I got an iPhone as a gift from him & his mom!) and went to Sushi Zanmai for dinner (which is delicious & if you like sushi you need to try it, it’s between Broadway & 13th on Spruce!) :). Yay for birthdays!!

Are you and Mike living in Boulder full time now? I wasn’t sure, but this post sure made me think it! πŸ™‚ And if you are, that first picture looks a LOT like the apartments/condos over on Moorhead where my asst. manager lives! Tantra Lake? I’m not sure if I’m right, though!

looks like you had an awesome birthday πŸ˜€

Wow, he certainly planned out quite the day. Melissa has that same bike in yellow, but riding on the streets of Chicago is a bit crazy so it sees no action.

Awww, it looks like you had an absolutely splendid day. so how was the play? it’s coming here in the next two weeks. i think i may go see it.

so hey, you have to help me out, charlotte. i’ll be coming there for thanksgiving. i need romantic places, ideas, and such for the englewood-denver area, but there looks to be so much a couple can do that i wouldn’t know where to begin. can you or any of your local peeps lend a hand and provide me with a few ideas?
