This was my view at the end of a yoga class, when I was supposed to have my eyes closed in corpse pose. The reflection of all the corpses overhead was too cool for me not keep my eyes open and enjoy it. What can I say, I’m more visual than spiritual, I guess.
I got up early Sunday morning to check out the Love Your Body yoga festival at Reston Town Center. Then I spent the afternoon with my family on the lake. Yet another great day.

I found my neglected yoga mat, and walked to the town center while the boys were still sleeping. Note the Twilight Festival tee shirt from the previous night’s race. Of course I wore it.

There were free yoga classes in the RTC pavilion all day.
It was expected to be a hot and sunny day, so I made sure to take the first class of the day. It was packed! There were probably 200 people in the pavilion (but only 3 or 4 guys, interesting). It was my first outdoor yoga class, and my favorite part was the sun salutations to the actual sun.

I also loved the view of the sky during downward dog.
Yoga has never fully clicked with me, and I probably don’t take it seriously enough. But it feels good and makes me happy, so I say that’s enough of a reason to do it once in a while.
Am I missing much by taking it lightly? It seems like it’s still beneficial, even if I’m not into the chanting and spirituality. I think of as a just a good stretch workout. Do any yogis out there want to chime in?

Later that afternoon, we went out on the boat here at Lake Anne with my parents. Mike finally got Danny to agree to wear a hat by bribing him with driving privileges. Hey, whatever works. The kid is seriously lacking in the pigment department.

You don’t often see drivers with sippy cups.

Me with my mom

We bought some new pool rafts, and they make the lake so much more fun!

Do you recommend any fun lake toys?
