Sunset over Rocky Mountain National Park.
On Monday, we left the park and spent the rest of our trip in Arapahoe National Forest.

We camped the first night near this river, just outside Rocky Mountain National Park.
This pond was full of frogs, and we listened to them converse throughout the night.
Just before sunset, we took a hike through the forest.
We came back and made a fire under a clear, full-moonlit sky.
The next morning, I discovered this sight.
Signs like these are the reason I must always carry my camera wherever I go.
We took a long, wet hike along Shadow Mountain Lake.
We stopped here for lunch, along this rushing river.
The sun came out again on our way back.
We found a gorgeous spot near Lake Granby to camp for the night.
From our campsite, we had beautiful views of the sunset over the river and lake.
That’s my Mikey.
Tom lit a fire and baked some potatoes.
It was so nice to sit and relax in the great outdoors with some cold drinks.
Mike’s new lantern.
Good night, all!

About Me
Hi, I’m Charlotte! I’m a photographer in Reston, Virginia. I love hiking, running, and exploring the world with my husband and young son.

great great photos! Love the reflection shot!
What wonderful photos! It looks like you had a great time
I’m glad you were able to get away for a few days.
Wow, what an amazing photo essay; nicely done (and thanks for sharing it with us)!
These pictures are SPECTACULAR!!! The electric blue sky at sunset, the reflections, the sunsets … just breathtaking!
Hey there. I’ve been watching your journal for a bit now, and I am a huge fan of your gorgeous pictures. Your dog is so cute! I found my way here from. Anyway, I thought I’d finally let you know that I was hanging around here and admiring your work. I also thought it was kinda funny about the deer crossing sign, those aren’t common where you’re from? haha I’m so used to seeing them all the time in northern Illinois, Wisconsin, and Minnesota!
Hi there! It’s nice to meet you!
Look closely at the deer crossing picture… something isn’t right!
It was so beautiful out there! I can’t wait until we go back!
omg haha! that’s great! we can see how well i’m paying attention
Isn’t that funny! I bet most people drive right past it and don’t notice anything strange about it!
Wow, what stunning scenery, trying to decide if the pond with reflections, or the sunset is my favourite picture. You look like you were having such a fantastic time.
I hadn’t noticed anything about the sign until I read your comment. It’s been a long day, that’s my excuse and I’m sticking to it!
Nice pics!
Those sunset/moonrise pics were very nice. (consider getting a split neutral-density filter so you can bring out more detail in the dark hills/foreground without overexposing the sky)
It must be like heaven to have such a beautiful area so close at hand.
looks like it was a fun time!
Oh, and the kitten centerpiece chick in E2M is a troll. It’s not me, I promise, but I know for sure its a troll.
She has got to be a troll. But I have to say that she had a great prank going there!
yeah, it’s a satire on the people who use fish as centerpieces and expect guests to take them home at the end of the night
Funny stuff! She had me tricked at first!
Thank you! And I’ve been loving all your recent photos from New Zealand! Your photographs make me eager to go see NZ for myself.
We definitely had a great time. Mike had earned some comp time, so we enjoyed taking a few days off to enjoy life a bit.
I’m glad you enjoyed it!
lol… I’m sure lots of people don’t notice it, either!
Isn’t that area beautiful? I’m so happy to be able to live in a place like this.
Now that I’ve been doing more landscape photography lately, I’ve been looking into the graduated ND filters. They are pricey, though! I’ll have to pay a few more bills before I can justify getting one.
your trip looks like it was amazing! it’s so beautiful and that sign is hilarious.
Ah ha! You noticed the dear!
yeah, i did, and i’m surprised other people didn’t!
I like the little ranch house across the pond shot.
I’ve been there… yeah it’s really pretty up there…. very nice….
be well
Mickey
